Jeremy Kyle discusses a celebrity who has lost his High Court bid to block reporting of sex abuse allegations. The well-known individual made the 'unprecedented' argument that he would kill himself if the claims went public. It is claimed that the man, named only as PPT, 'abused his status' to conduct 'inappropriate and exploitative sexual activities' with 'a large number' of women and girls over a number of years. The celebrity applied for an injunction against ITN and The Guardian newspaper, which said they had interviewed more than 100 people with knowledge of the celebrity's alleged misconduct. Mr Justice Nicklin refused to grant the injunction but ordered that the celebrity should remain anonymous until a later date. The judge said that the risk of the celebrity killing himself was 'genuine, grave and closely connected to the court's decision'. Across the pond, it’s been a terrible night for Donald Trump and the Republicans. The President has lost control of the House of Representatives and the Senate.…

Cleavage In The Classroom

Jeremy Kyle reacts as The Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has watered down plans for tougher immigration rules after a Labour Party revolt. Almost 300,000 foreign care workers will be exempt from a crackdown that would have seen them wait years longer to win permanent status in Britain. Meanwhile, Andy Burnham is to give £40m to Caribbean projects amid a row about whether Britain should pay reparations for the slave trade. On the first day of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Antigua, the Prime Minister will pledge the money for green energy schemes in the West Indies. He will also set out plans to help poorer Commonwealth members grappling with increased debt costs. Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband has said an apology for slavery could help Britain strengthen ties with the Commonwealth. In other news, telling someone who identifies as a cat that they are human will be illegal under a damning assessment of Labour’s Conversion Practices Bill. The wording of the bill intended to outlaw conversion…

Small Boats, Big Lawsuits

Jeremy Kyle discusses the latest plans to toughen immigration rules are expected to be massively watered down today after a highly damaging battle within the Labour Party. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood's proposals to make low-skilled foreign migrants wait far longer for 'settled' status in Britain have been rewritten after strong opposition from her party's left wing. Under the proposals, skilled workers would typically have to wait 10 years rather than the current five, but the lowest-paid workers, including care workers, would have to wait 15. The Home Secretary is now believed to be considering plans to treat care workers more like skilled workers, including doctors, who can “earn” reductions to their ILR wait by working in the public sector. Meanwhile, Andy Burnham is open to increasing financial assistance, i.e. reparations for Commonwealth countries, to help make amends for Britain’s role in the slave trade. The PM will consider demands for investment in healthcare and education from African and…

Banter Ban

Jeremy Kyle reacts as John Healey admitted last night he would not cut welfare before the next election. The Chancellor started the day by insisting handouts would be whittled down this parliamentary term. Britain’s annual welfare bill is on course to hit £431billion by 2031 — In the Budget on Wednesday Mr Healey said “There will be a reduction in the benefits bill. We’ll do that in a Labour way”. Treasury sources scrambled to downplay his commitment and suggested he had not made a firm pledge. At lunchtime yesterday No10 said the Government will not be setting an “arbitrary target or timetable” on reducing the welfare bill. This forced John Healey to completely U-turn last night by telling Channel 4: “It’s not correct to say that we are going to bring this welfare bill down in this Parliament because we’ve not set a timetable for that.” And now Andy Burnham now says he wants to make welfare cuts “as soon as possible” but refused to put a date on the promise. What a shambles! Treasury sources scrambled to…
